We are still waiting for the car! First it was going to arrive 28 May, and then it changed to 5 June. We can only wait...

Our next move from the historic center was to Manga, the part of Cartagena where the container port is located, to be ready to deal with the mountain of paperwork we have to do once the car arrives. This is not exactly like the historic center where we spent the first week in Colombia. It is an island, described as a residential area.

The hotel is right next to the port, with a really nice view of the Bahia de Cartagena. Despite the view this is not the fancy side of Manga. We have now spent a few days here, and learned to find shops and restaurants, as well as finding where the nicer buildings are. It is in many ways more interesting than the historic center, as it has more of daily life and just about no tourists.

While we have been busy finding our way around, the ship with the car, Contship Fox, has been on an outing. Instead of simply going to Cartagena from Colon, it went to Barranquilla, then to Curaçao, and for good measure to Aruba. Once it leaves Aruba, it will come to Cartagena. We believe... There is good food in the large supermarket Jumbo, even dutch gouda cheese with cumin. There is also plenty of excitement, for example last night a glass panel from around the hotel pool came loose in the wind and fell to the ground from the 10th floor. As far as we know luckily nobody was hurt.
