After years we came back to Santiago, a city we have gotten to know over several trips since the first time in 2000. The very first trip was for Harold to market New Zealand made fishing rods, and after that it has been Karin who has worked in the city for her employer. This time we were mainly tourists, but of course we met up with friends while there.
It is still a very nice place, and it has grown a lot since 2012 when we last visited. New, and tall, buildings have been built, traffic is much heavier, and everything is now for sale in shopping malls and restaurants. We spent time walking around and see the areas where we used to go, and it is such an enjoyable and walk-able city with wide streets and a lot of greenery. We also had the car for service, again, everything to keep us safe on the road.
The main places we visited are Providencia and Las Condes for life in general, Parque Arauco for a shopping mall, and Los Dominicos for artisan goods. We took a walk by the river to get close to La Cordillera, and had a coffee at the Sheraton. All in all a few enjoyable days in a city we really like.
