At last, late evening 6 June the ship turned up at Cartagena. We were told that we were to be without the car for a minimum of 14 days, and to be flexible as it is impossible to forecast exactly what happens with sea freight.

Indeed we are now almost 4 weeks in, and very excited to soon be back on the road.

There is however still some work to be done. The container needs to be put on a truck and taken to customs, some other administrative processes will be completed and then, after waiting a day for the mandatory insurance policy to be valid, we will be free to leave. We are getting better at taking the day as it comes.

Meantime we have now spent enough time here to start feeling like locals. We have walked every street in our part of Manga, seen the messy ones and the not-so-messy ones (there are a couple of tidy ones), we have been to the local mall several times, and the staff at the hotel are treating us like part of the furniture. All good!

We've also visited Bocagrande, the most exclusive and expensive part of the region. It is a narrow, flat piece of land with high-rise buildings and roads that flood in the rain.
