On the way from Esteli to Ocotal, we stopped in a place called Palacagüina. It is famous for a song, El Cristo de Palacagüina, and Harold really wanted to see the place...

And we had a coffee, in a place where they served only different kinds of meat. Interesting experience!

We arrived at Ocotal on Friday 7 February, with the plan to cross the border to Honduras at Las Manos the next day.

Then it started to change. It is a story in itself but we decided to go to Managua. After that we carried on to León.

Managua was our first capital city, after San José of course, on the trip. It is interesting, with everybody living in a house with land around for a garden or at least some outdoor space. We saw only one tall building. We stayed at a good hotel and went with a driver from there on a tour around the city. On the tour we stopped for lunch at Cocina de Doña Haydée, and ate Indio Viejo and Vigoron, two special Nicaraguan dishes. Very nice!

León is a nice place and very hot at +33C high every day.
